George II Architectural Gesso Mirror

A George II style gilt-wood and carved gesso looking glass in the manner of the 1730s. The mirror plate sits within a moulded frame with outset corners carved with trailing leaves and with shells at the top corners flanked by drapes and tassels. The scrolled cresting is centred by a cartouche above a shell and leaf carved frieze with a matching shell centring the apron. The shaped apron is fitted with a pair of adjustable brass candle arms and candle-holders.
