Klismos Chair

A design developed by the Greeks in the 5th Century BC, gaining popularity throughout the 4th Century, the Klismos chair has four curving splayed legs and curved back rail with a narrow concave back rest. The design was resurrected in the English Regency period. The uprights of the chair and the rear legs are carved from single pieces of wood forming graceful curves. The seat with fitted interlocking strapwork, surmounted by a pad seat.
